We got up at 6AM on Day 2 because the Pody's need to leave by 8AM, and we wanted to spend some time with them. Uncle David brought some yummy fresh bagels (some of which we continued to enjoy throughout the week) and lemon danish after getting up at 3:30AM.
We hit the road and headed to Seaford, Delaware, my mother's birthplace. More on that in another post. After we explored my mother's childhood haunts, we headed down the DelMarVa peninsula. We ate lunch at a seafood place in Maryland right on the Virginia border. Our next stop was at the beginning of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. More on that in another post. :)
At the end of the Bridge-Tunnel, we arrived in Norfolk, VA. We drove along the bay to get to our final destinations, Williamsburg, VA. We checked into the Crowne Plaza Williamsburg hotel. We went to the swimming pool!
Then we went to Captain Georges seafood buffet. There was SO much food! There was a steam bar with oysters, clams, blue crabs, mussels, crawfish, and crab legs. There was a regular bar with salad, soup, rolls, veggies, mac-n-cheese, ribs, chicken, fried scallops, fried shrimp, fried clams, hush puppies, cornbread, and about 6 or 7 different seafood casseroles. There was a dessert bar with pineapple upside-down cake, strawberry shortcake, chocolate cake, jello, banana pudding, chocolate pudding, strawberry cheesecake, flan, bread pudding, watermelon, cookies, and brownies.
On the way out the door we were accosted by someone trying sell us a condo property. We, not so quickly, scurried away after slight confusion on Nicholas' part. He forgot it was his job to play the bad cop in those situations.
States driven through: Delaware, Maryland, Virginia
