Harpers Ferry, WV

Wednesday of my MD training trip, I ventured to Harper's Ferry, WV. It was beautiful! Harpers Ferry is at the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers. It is also where 3 trails meet! I hiked a little on the Appalachian Trail. Harpers Ferry is the halfway point of the AT.
Jefferson Rock, where Thomas Jefferson stood in 1783 and said, "This scene is worth a voyage across the Atlantic."

Frederick, MD, Part I

The last week of August, I went to training in Frederick, MD. Aside from class, I had two goals: exercise and explore historical places. I had an amazing time! I flew in on Sunday. On the way from the airport to the hotel some hiking at Ball's Bluff  Battlefield Regional Park. Ball's Bluff was the second largest battle of the Eastern Theater in 1861, and in its aftermath had repercussions in the Union Army’s chain of command structure, and raised separation of powers issues under the United States Constitution during the war.

After class on Monday, I went for a walk on the Ballinger Creek trail in Frederick. It was a fun urban trail walk.
Tuesday, I ventured to Gambrill State Park in the Catoctin Mountains and did some adult paced hiking! It was intense and awesome!
