Saturday Adventures

Last Saturday, we took Lil' D to his first Texas basketball game. Actually, it was his first Texas game. He was enthralled the entire time.
Texas lost, but Lil' had a blast. We grabbed some lunch at Central Market where Lil' D enjoyed running around on the beautifully Spring January day.
Afterwards we ended up at Mount Bonnell, one of the highest points in Austin overlooking Lake Austin (read: Colorado River).
Helicopter!
It was a beautiful sunset!

Glimpses of Independence

Lil' D was quietly playing with his legos in the living room while I was sitting in the dining room. Unprompted, he started putting all the blocks away in the box, put the lid on, stood up and put the box away on the shelf in its spot. When he turned around, he noticed that the giraffe was still sitting on the floor where he was playing. He got the box back out and took it over to where he was playing and struggled to get the lid off. Once he got it loose, he put the giraffe in the box moving it around into the right spot so the lid would still close. Then he struggled to get the lid back on. One side clicked into place when he noticed another block that had fallen out, so he struggled to get the lid open wide enough to sneak the rouge block back in. Then he leaned on the box with his head for little while in downward dog position. All the while not noticing Mom was watching.

Oklahoma Trip

We visited my sister, Laurie, the first weekend in January. It was our first trip to Oklahoma (a new state for Lil' D). We left at 4:30 am on Friday morning, and it took us about 6 hours to arrive at our destination.
Lil' D immediately started having fun with his older cousins.
There was still a little snow on the ground from Christmas, so Lil' D enjoyed running through it!
On Saturday, we went to Mt. Scott in the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge.
Lil' D fell asleep in the car on the way up the mountain, so we let him nap a bit before pulling him out of the car. He was a little zombie-like when we first got him out of the car!
Lil' D loves hand socks!
We did a little driving around the Wildlife Refuge and enjoyed the bison and longhorns.
Then we had dinner at Meer's Hamburgers.
Lil' D was very excited about the Godinez cat!
Playground fun with Cousin Elgin!
We visited the Apache Cemetery on Ft. Sill where Geronimo is buried.
Then we drove over to the Artillery Museum. The Museum was closed, but we enjoyed walking around outside.
Trying to climb up onto the tank...
Checking out the service horses.
