Arizona Road Trip

For Spring Break, we took a road trip to Arizona to visit National Parks. 4th graders get a free national parks pass for the year they are in 4th grade, and this was our inspiration for the trip! We spent 2 nights camping at Franklin Mountains State Park in El Paso, one night camping in Tucson, 3 nights at an AirBnB in Flagstaff and one impromptu night at a hotel in Albuquerque.

  • We amassed 74.5 hours outside thanks to 3 nights of camping!
  • We visited 5 national parks and 2 national monuments and learned that White Sands is the newest National Park, effective 2019.
  • We hiked about 26 miles in 3 states.
  • We drove 3000+ miles and 50+ hours.
  • We have no idea what time it is or what time zone we are in. We drove from Central to Mountain time, then daylight savings time happened. Then we drove to Arizona where they don't observe daylight savings time. Thank goodness  for smart phones!
