Soup: It's What's For Dinner

There is always a whole lot of cooking going on at the Dertien house. Lately, there have been a plethora of soup dishes!

1. Tortilla Soup from EatingWell.com: corn tortillas, poblano peppers, onion, cumin, chicken, chicken broth, can of Rotel tomatoes, lime juice, cheddar cheese, and cilantro.

2. Shrimp Bisque from A Good Day for Soup: butter, onion, red bell pepper, celery, garlic, cayenne pepper, dry mustard, Hungarian paprika, flour, Fish Stock, thyme, heavy cream, shirmp, and chopped chives.

3. Broccoli Cheese Chowder from EatingWell.com: onion, carrot, celery, sweet potato, garlic, flour, dry mustard, cayenne pepper, chicken broth, broccoli, cheddar cheese, and sour cream.

4. Sweet Potato Peanut Bisque from EatingWell.com: sweet potato, onion, garlic, tomato juice, diced green chiles, ginger, allspice, vegetable broth, peanut butter, and cilantro for garnish.

5. Spicy Morrocan Stewed Fish with Couscous from Cooking Light Jan/Feb issue: couscous, lemon juice, sea salt, pepper, white fish (We used cod.), shrimp, cumin, cinnamon, garlic, hot red chile, clam juice (I used water.), can diced tomatoes, and frozen peas.

6. Caribbean Spicy Chicken Sausage and Squash Chowder from Cooking Light Jan/Feb issue: sweet potato, red bell pepper, onion, celery, garlic, ginger, cumin, curry, allspice, cinnamon, brown sugar, butternut squash, chicken broth, thyme, bay leaves, can black-eyed peas, can diced tomatoes, fresh cilantro, and spicy chicken sausage.

7. Three Bean Vegetarian Chili from Cooking Light Jan/Feb issue: red bell pepper, onion, cumin, crushed red pepper, paprika, salt, garlic, vegetable broth, butternut squash, can crushed tomatoes, can pinto beans, can cannellini beans, can red kidney beans, and green onions.
