We officially became homeowners when we closed on our house on July 31st. Why has it taken me so long to blog about it? Maybe because we aren't living there yet. Maybe because we didn't really do anything to the house after we closed. Maybe because it was slightly anti-climatic.
We were suppose to close on July 30th, but the IRS audited our lenders files. They usually have a 24hr turn-around time. Unfortunately, they pulled too many files at once, and once they have pulled your file, you cannot close until they clear you. Don't be fooled thinking that they were auditing our tax returns. No, sirree! They were just verifying that the W2's we provided to our lender were the same as the ones the IRS had on file.
So luckily, we were able to close on Friday. Luckily, since we took a short trip to Austin for the occasion, and it would have been a shame to have to leave without closing on our house.
That being said...come September you will be tired of seeing our new home and hearing about our new home. Sit tight and enjoy our New England summer.
