New England Lobster Bake

Serves 12-16
Ingredients:
large vessel
cheesecloth sacks
newspaper
rockweed (seaweed)
12 large potatoes
6 sweet potatoes
2 pounds onions
6-8 pounds little necks
6-8 pounds mussels
15 live 1-pound chicken lobsters
16 ears sweet corn
2 pounds unsalted butter

Step 1: Build a "vessel" or pit for the bake.

Step2: Build a fire in the pit and burn until you have just coals.

Step 3: Put loose items (potatoes, mussels, clams, onions) in cheesecloth sacks.

Step 4: Once the fire has burned to coals, put the base layer of rockweed down.

Step 5: Place the potatoes and onions on top of the base layer of rockweed.

Step 6: Put another layer of rockweed on top of the potatoes and onions.

Step 7: Put the sacks of little necks and mussels on top of the second layer of rockweed.

Step 8: Put another layer of rockweed on top of the little necks and mussels.

Step 9: Put the ears of corn (with husks still on) on top of the third layer of rockweed.

Step 10: Put the live lobsters on top of the corn. (They will not be happy and may try to run away. Stop this.)

Step 11: Top with one more layer of rockweed.
Step 12: Place sheets of wet newspaper on top and around the pile to trap the steam.

Step 13: Place an uncracked egg or two on top of the pile (under the newspaper). Once the egg is cooked (hard-boiled) the food is ready to eat and enjoy!
