Family Camping

The second weekend of June, we took our first family of five camping trip to Palmetto State Park. We had planned to spend Thursday and Friday night, but Lil' Bro woke up Thursday morning with a tummy bug. He was fine by Friday morning, so we enjoyed one night of camping. The tent camping at Palmetto State Park is very shady and right next to an awesome playground. The boys could go play while we were sitting in our campsite. We arrived Friday afternoon and set up camp. Big Bro helped Daddy setup the tent. Then we went exploring and hiked the Lake Trail that took us around Oxbow Lake.
We had lots of fun hanging out at camp. Baby Bro bear crawled all around in the dirt and had a blast. Everyone enjoyed taking turns in the hammock.
Daddy and the big boys also did a little fishing, though there was no catching. They still had fun trying!
For dinner we had sausage and campfire mac and cheese. Unfortunately, the flies were really bad, so that put a little damper on eating time.
A highlight for most everyone was roasting marshmallows for s'mores.
We all slept in the same tent. There was plenty of room, and everyone did really well. Daddy made eggs for breakfast.
Then we went hiking on the Mesquite Flats Trail.
We happened upon this really cool spider and enjoyed watching it for awhile.
After our hike, we went back to camp for lunch and to break camp and pack up the car. Lil' Bro and Baby Bro fell asleep in the car on the way home before we even got out of the park, so Mommy and Daddy enjoyed a little sight seeing in Luling.
Everyone loved camping and can't wait to do it again!
