McKinney Roughs Nature Preserve

On Saturday, we visited McKinney Roughs Nature Preserve. It was a beautiful day! We had a picnic before our hike.
We took the Riverside Trail down to the Colorado River.
We saw people riding horses!
Lil' D checking out the horseshoe print on the trail.
Heading down a steep incline.
We made it to the river!
We walked down to enjoy the river a bit. A family of three on horseback joined us and started to walk into the water, but the 7 seven year old girl's horse started to lay down in the water. Nicholas ran into the water to try to help and make sure the girl didn't fall off and get stuck under the horse. All ended well, but Nicholas' feet got all wet!
Lil' D rode on my back for the rest of the hike. We took the Cypress Trail to the Pineridge Trail at that suggestion of the lady at the Visitor Center to avoid the steep incline on the Riverside Trail.
The Pineridge Trail was narrow and steep, but had steps! Quite a hike with 40 additional pounds on my back!
We made it to the top!
Lil' D finally fell asleep by the time we made it the Bobcat Trail and napped until we were finished. Overall we hiked about 3 miles for 2.5 hours. What a day!
