We left Alabama on Sunday to head to Panama City Beach, Florida. It was about a four hour drive. For most of the last two hours it poured down rain. Not promising for our beach vacation! Thankfully it stopped raining just as we were on the outskirts of Panama City. We stopped for a delicious seafood lunch before heading to our hotel.
Lil' D was VERY excited about the BEACH!!
Aunt Judy walked Lil' D down to the water while we unloaded the truck.
Of course, Lil' D went right to digging in the sand.
Post beach afternoon snack
On Monday, we walked across the street to have breakfast as the Sunnyside Diner. Lil' D had Mickey Mouse pancakes. He doesn't know who Mickey Mouse is but will refer to all pancakes from now on as Mickey Mouse pancakes!
Monday found us at the beach all day. There was a lot of digging in the sand, swimming in the ocean, applying sunscreen (and still getting burned), and book reading in the shade of the umbrella.
Lil' D buried Daddy in the sand and then took a turn himself.
Yoga on the beach.
Our hotel was on the outskirts of Panama City. Monday night we drove into the city for dinner at Sharky's.
Originally we planned to leave Tuesday morning, but decided to stay an extra day because the beach is awesome, and the weather was supposed to be the best on Tuesday!
Tuesday morning, we found a lovely coffee shop down the street for breakfast. Lil' D enjoyed a giant game of Connect Four.
Nicholas enjoyed trying out his new tripod and remote.
What I don't have pictures of are the Shovel Ball game Nicholas, Lil' D and Aunt Sharon played Tuesday afternoon. Nicholas invented it. Lil' D loved it. Nicholas held the large sand shovel like a bat. Lil' D threw the ball toward the ocean, and Nicholas tried to keep the ball from going into the ocean. Aunt Sharon and Lil' D ran after the balls Nicholas defended. There was a lot of laughing and running.
Tuesday morning we went to the Fish market and had some shrimp steamed for dinner. Lil' D had a great idea that we should have a picnic on the beach, so we did!
After dusk, we enjoyed fireworks on the beach. Fun with sparklers and small fountains!
Lil' D had no problem falling asleep any night we were at the beach!
We had breakfast at the Sunnyside Diner on Wednesday and bid farewell to the beach. Then we packed up and headed back to Alabama.
