A few days after Nicholas returned home from Colorado, we set out on our July Family Vacation. It was our first BIG road trip. We left Wednesday afternoon after I finished work. Lil' D was pack in snug in the backseat with a pile of books to look at.
We stopped in Corsicana for dinner at a park.
We stayed the night in Monroe, LA. It was probably a little too far for us to drive, and Lil' D was not too interested in transferring from sleeping in the car to sleeping in strange hotel room. So none of us got much sleep. After breakfasting at our hotel, we started our 4th of July holiday off in the car headed to visit the Alabama Aunts.
We had to pitstop at the Mississippi Welcome Center overlooking the Mississippi River to share a piece of my childhood with little boy and Nicholas.
We arrived in Alabama mid-day. We had a lovely dinner and went to see some fireworks on the family land. That night Lil' D woke up with a fever, Yeah! Nicholas ran out for fever reducer while Mommy slept with little boy. We had another night of not so fabulous sleep.
I had to work on Friday. Lil' D and Daddy had fun enjoying the dome home (while it was raining outside) with Aunt Judy.
Bowling in the basement
Post-nap guacamole
Sweeping with Aunt Sharon
Listening and looking for trains on the deck.
Saturday morning we headed to the Heart of Dixie Railroad. It was still raining. We walked around in the rain and looked at trains. Then we road on the vintage train.
After our fun train adventure,we enjoyed lunch at a winery. Lil' D's favorite part of wine testing is the crackers. We spent the afternoon at the indoor pool and had another delicious dinner.
