This Crazy Life

A few moments from our crazy life via Facebook statuses:

Sneaking pedialyte into oatmeal...

--------------------------------------------------------------
Downside to cloth diapers...stomach bug.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I thought I was doing well on the whole mommy brain front, but tonight I called my brother-in-law January. Naturally that is not his name...
-----------------------------------------------------------------
So thankful for my wonderful, amazing husband who is an awesome co-parent. Diapers, peek-a-boo, bath time, stomach bugs, bedtime, early mornings, and late nights. Thanks for embracing all my ideas (cloth diapering, homemade baby food, etc.) and diving in to help. I am so happy to share it all with you.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you Nicholas Dertien for having lightning fast reflexes so that when our baby lunges toward me from the top of the stairs he only ends up looking like Superman in your arms instead of needing a trip to the ER!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Loving big slobbery baby kisses, especially in the morning when they often become an attack of Mommy's nose! Aunt Kendall, you are missing out!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
While taking Lil' D toothbrush from him--
Nicholas--"Why is he beating me?"
We're in trouble when Lil' D actually is stronger than us!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Let's cut each other's hair. I'm an artist; you're a girl. What could go wrong?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I walked out of my office to find Lil' D and Nicholas playing in the 5 person tent set up in the living room.
Me: So you are you going to play tent camping all day?
Nicholas: Yep.
Me: What happens when Lil' D goes down for a nap?
Nicholas: I'll keep playing camping!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I now understand the value of having a toilet in a separate room where you can close the door to quarantine it from little boys who like to put things in "containers."
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I'm seriously considering investing in a raincoat for bath time!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Grandmom--Thank you for buying me that cool Stardust lamp when I was in middle school (instead of a Lava lamp). It has traveled to many, many apartments, to Rhode Island and back. Nicholas thought it was silly that I have kept it all these years, but now Lil' D really enjoys staring at it in his room. Maybe it will travel thousands of miles with him, too. :)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Me: I need to go upstairs and work.
Nicholas: Okay. Do you want me to fix you some breakfast?
Me: Lil' D and I already ate. There are two eggs left for you.
Later...
Me: Did you get some breakfast?
Nicholas: I made french toast. Of course, I had to tithe some to the boy.
Me: Well, you did make french toast. Who didn't see that coming?"
----------------------------------------------------------------
Lil' D: Mom, I know my room is right next to your office, and there are lots of cool toys in there, but I must play in your office, no matter what! If you won't let me turn the printer on and off, relocate the router and admire some of Daddy's artwork, then I suppose I will settle for playing with my Old McDonald tractor and dance for you as it plays that really annoying music.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Yesterday Lil' D sprayed himself in the face with the water hose. Then he reached for a cup of milk off the table that looked like a Lil' D cup but did not have a lid and got a milk bath before bed. Hoping for a drier day today!
----------------------------------------------------------------
Busy weekend...busy day...tired baby...forgot about my Sunday night meeting. *Sigh...Sunday night meetings are hard for me. Hopefully I'll remember my doctor's appointment tomorrow!
----------------------------------------------------------------
Funny how even though it was only 85 degrees yesterday, the sun was just as hot as if it were 100 degrees when it was beating down on my forehead while pushing my 30 pound son in his 27 pound jogging stroller and jogging on the trail. Next time I won't forget my hat!
----------------------------------------------------------------
While reading the book "That's Not My Truck:"
Me: "That's not my truck. It's hubcaps are too rough."
Lil' D: Ruff, Ruff.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Does Lil' D barking at dogs on Daddy's phone and saying "ball" every time he sees a picture of a ball count as screen time?
---------------------------------------------------------------
Lil' D is seriously going to break the salad spinner. He gets frustrated when the lid doesn't go on just right and he can't make it spin. Also, he enjoys blowing raspberries on Mommy WAY too much. He goes into a raspberry blowing euphoria and starts giggling and walking all wobbly.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Nicholas convinced Lil' D to suck on his toes while I was changing his diaper. Crazy baby.
--------------------------------------------------------------
LVN: "I'm going to need one of you to hold baby in your lap because I can't hold him down on the table."
Me: "Are you trying to say he is a big boy?"
LVN: *laugh* "And I am small."
Three shots later, our 32lb, 32" tall little boy decided he did not like that LVN and watched her leave the room.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Sure sign you have a mobile toddler: opening the dryer and finding an empty toy bucket instead of clothes.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Nicholas was mowing the backyard. Lil' D watched out our bedroom window screaming DaDADaDA. #peacefulshowerformom
