Not Me! Monday

Mckmama- Not Me Monday

I did not take this picture and then say a little prayer. Having a refrigerator filled with fresh fruits and vegetables is not one of my favorite things. I am not incredibly grateful that I have access to delicious food at reasonable prices and that I am in a position to fill my fridge all the time.

I did not take this picture after my husband told me not to. I did not assure him that I would not post it on my blog. I did not give him a hard time for drawing a picture that I could draw when he has an MFA. I also did not chastise him for drawing my hair the wrong color. I do not secretly think this picture is pretty cute.

Happy Monday!

Memorial Day Tribute

God's blessings this Memorial Day to everyone who has lost a loved one in service to our country. I am thankful for all the people in my life who are or who have served in the military. Please know I think of you often. Jacob, you are missed.

Baby A--9 months

You are moving all over the place.
You really want to do things all by yourself, and wish Aunt Dana would just hand over the camera so you can flash some lights in her eyes.
You are pulling up to stand on whatever is available.
Cousin Mini-J is really excited that now you can crawl into her room to play with her. She is excited when you play with the toys she gives you, but is not so sure you should be able to play with her favorite toys.
You like bubbles almost as much as Callie, and pretty soon you will probably be eating them just like her, too. Mostly you like to observe EVERYTHING right now.
You love to walk around when someone is holding at least one of your hands. Soon, the only thing that will stop you from moving around is a baby gate.

Congratulations to 1st Place and Tournament Champion Winners--Angels!

Congratulations to Matt Turman's baseball team, the Angels, for finishing 1st place at the end of the season. Then they started the tournament strong, but lost on Saturday to the Rangers. They beat the Yankees on Tuesday, and went on to beat the Rangers on both Wednesday and Thursday to finish as tournament champions.
The final game was extremely exciting with a final score of 15-6. The game ended with a double play at first base by the first baseman. Congratulations, also, to the winning coaches, John and Don! The Angels ended the season as a TEAM, something many 5th grade boys never learn. Good luck this summer with All-Stars! The above picture is everyone getting their Championship shirts!
The boys are in front of all the parents in a dogpile!
Post championship celebration at Mangia. Kids in the back, parents on the side.

Confirmation Sunday

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
On Sunday, Kathryn Turman was confirmed. She had to wear a HUGE robe so that it would be long enough on her 6'1" frame!
Since I drove back from Dallas that morning, we were a little late to service, and there were zero seats available!
After church there was a small gathering at the Turman's house, and Kat got some lovely gifts (and LOTS of jewelry).
I was partial to my gift! An engraved snowglobe that plays Amazing Grace.
And there was, of course, a beautiful cake.
Matt even gave a little post-Confirmation impromptu guitar recital (after MUCH prompting and begging).
Congratulations on your Confirmation, Kathryn! We are so proud of you.

A Day in Dallas (with videos)

I spent the day in Dallas on Satruday with my nieces and sisters. Baby A, Kendall and I went shopping...without a stroller! That was a lovely experience, but Baby A was perfect, of course!
Kendall's dog, Callie is very jealous of Baby A getting so much attention.
Is that baby drool on Aunt Kendall's bed?!?!
Baby A is moving all around and will be walking in no time!
Baby A enjoyed playing with Cousin Mini-J
And Uncle Jeff tried to teach Baby A about the Look and Find books.
I am not sure who enjoyed snack time more, Baby A or Callie.
Notice that Callie is cleaning up the high chair since Baby A is sooo messy.
It's also a toss up who loves the bubble machine more...
Here is a video of Baby A babbling away.

Here is a video of Mini-J singing a song that she will sing in her church program on Thursday.
I should mention that the no's at the end of the video are directed at the dog, not Mini-J!

Not Me! Monday

Mckmama- Not Me Monday
It is not me who is blinded by all the colors on my calendar (because I have everything color-coded by category). I do not have more things holding a place on my calendar than I could possibly accomplish and continue to work full-time. Nope, not me!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was definitely not me who drove to Dallas this weekend for less than 24 hours so I could spend time with my family and drove back to Austin Sunday morning so I could make to church for KT's Confirmation. Nope, not me! That would be crazy. Once at church I did not find myself without a parking or a chair because it was Confirmation Sunday! I did not briefly have to sit elevated in the choir area because there were no other seats. That would have been embarrassing!
Happy Monday! What have you not been doing? Head over to MckMama's blog to see what tawdry secrets everyone else has to share!
A Musical Week
Last week was a musical week of events for LJ Turman. On Monday, he had a Senior Recital at our church that he organized, planned and put together himself just because it was a good thing to do, not because anyone made him.
He played five songs, including a duet with his private lesson teacher.
There was a nice turnout of people, and he played well!
Afterwards, everyone went to the Turman house for a little reception.
Friday night was the Spring Band concert at Westlake High School.
It is tradition at Westlake that if you are senior and you make State, you get to play a solo with the band in the Spring Concert. LJ and his friend, Alexa both got the opportunity to play a solo.
It was a fun concert filled with fun music that ended with a John Phillip Sousa march, as all good concerts should!
On Tuesday, John also had Senior Awards. He was awarded a memorial scholarship but also received two teacher awards, two certificates for UIL, and recognition for making All State Band.
