On Saturday, we had the pleasure of accompanying LJ Turman to Boston for his 2nd of 6 college auditions. We got up SUPER early for our 6:20AM flight to Boston with a layover in Dallas. Saturday is great day to fly. Our flights were all pretty empty. We arrived in Boston around 12:30pm. We checked into our hotel, and LJ did a little practicing. Then we headed out to find some lunch. It was about 20 degrees (F) outside. The first place we saw was Joe's American Grill. It was nice and warm, and well were the long wait for the fresh baked bread!
Then we headed over to the Boston University College of Fine Arts building. LJ checked in and found an empty practice room. Here he is before warming up.
His audition lasted only about 10 minutes. Nicholas and I spent time at the Starbucks across the street. LJ met up with some old pals from his Tanglewood days, and then we all went to dinner. Here we are waiting to board the "T," Boston's mass transit system.
We went to Cambridge to meet a Rhode Island friend, Anna, who is now a freshman at the Art Institute of Boston.
We had dinner at the Cambridge Commons and got a hot meal in all the college/almost college kids' tummies.
The men's and women's restrooms were on opposite sides of the restaurant. This sign was hanging over the stairs where you would think the men's restroom was. It reads, "Stairway to Nowhere. If you are looking for the men's restroom it is on the other side of the restaurant."
Despite the bitter cold, Nicholas still was able to entertain!
Going down down down the escalators to get back onthe "T."
We all got up dark and early Sunday morning. Nicholas and I had a 6:40AM train to Providence, and LJ needed to head to the airport. Here is the view from our hotel window at O'dark thirty.
And here is LJ all ready to head to the airport in the COLD!
Good luck, LJ on all the rest of your auditions!
