Los Cabos--Whale Watching

On Monday, we had a nice little company sponsored excursion. Nancy and I went whale watching. It was a three hour tour in the afternoon on a small boat with about 15 people and a wonderful crew. "Celebrities" love Cabo, and we learned that some of the famous people to have taken the same whale watching tour were Sean Penn, Robin Wright Penn, and Robin Williams.

It was a beautiful day to be on the water and were given quite a show by a baby humpback whale who was practicing jumping over its mommy. Nicholas and I went whale watching last summer in Cape Cod, and I thought we had a amazing experience then, but we were on a bigger boat in the Atlantic Ocean. We were able to get closer to the whales on a smaller boat in Cabo, and the babies were younger and learning many new things.

We traveled in the Sea of Cortez, and then went into the Bay of Santa Maria for a little snorkeling. I didn't go snorkeling, but did get a few decent picture of the beautiful fish from above the water (when the hungry pelican would move out of my way).

The scenery was also beautiful. I got some great shots of the Land's End arch located at the southernmost tip of the Baja Peninsula. This cluster of rocks were carved into fantastic formations by the wind and sea. Land's End is also where the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean meet.
