We took our first family road trip over Spring Break to Alabama. 800 miles and many hours of driving, but the kids were awesome! We packed the van on Friday night. We woke up around 3am, igot all the final things ready and the kids in the car. We hit the road around 3:45am. Promptly, it started sprinkling. Nicholas drove the first shift. It was dark and pretty rainy! We made our first stop just outside of Houston for breakfast and to feed Baby Bro.
Our second stop was at the Acthafalaya Visitor Center along the Acthafalaya Basin Bridge. The bathroom was not working at the Visitor's Center so we had to go over to the Truck Stop bathroom. Then we explored the Visitor Center and learned a little about Louisiana.
We drove all the way through Louisiana with rain off and on. The boys took a long nap! We headed north through Mississippi to Hattiesburg. We stopped to visit with the Caseys! Our last trip to Alabama was 2 kids and 4 years ago. That's also the last time we saw the Caseys. Matt made us food, the kids played and ran around, and we had a lovely visit.
We left the Caseys around 6pm. It was super rainy and took 4 hours, but we finally arrived at Aunt Sharon and Aunt Judy's house a little after 10!
