Another busy Holy Week for us. Nicholas was busy making art for Easter. I was the narrator for the Living Last Supper piece of the Maundy Thursday service, just like last year.
Nicholas participated in the Good Friday service again. The Good Friday service was a telling of the Passion story using "eyewitness" accounts from Pontius Pilate, King Herod, a Penitent Thief, a Roman Centurion Soldier and Joseph of Aramethea. Nicholas and Matt Turman performed in a shadow box in the middle of the sanctuary during the Gospel readings from Luke. It was very powerful. I stayed home with baby Lil' Bro last year, so I missed this service. Big Bro and I went to the service this year, and he sat through the whole service, very excited that his Daddy was in the shadowbox. Lil' Bro had a great time playing in the nursery.
Saturday morning we helped clean up the sanctuary and prepare for Easter morning. Nicholas worked all day and ALL night. He got home from setting up at 6:30 Easter morning! He took a shower and headed back up to church! During the two indoor Easter services, Nicholas unveiled the cross and dressed it for Easter.
Since Nicholas did sleep on Easter Eve night, we went to the early service (so out of character for us), and I managed to make it with both boys by myself only a few minutes late!
Nicholas' artwork this Easter is a series of drawings that start with the tomb and progress to origami Easter lilies.
After we attended the early service, the boys participated in the Easter egg hunt. Then we enjoyed the traditional Easter breakfast of pancakes. We hung out for awhile because Nicholas had to do the unveiling of the cross at the beginning of the 10:45 service. Then we headed home for Daddy to get a little nap in before afternoon Easter fun!
